Redmi 9 Prime Review: Budget Smartphone, Strong Backup. Learn the advantages and drawbacks

Xiaomi has recently launched Redmi 9 Prime in India. It is a budget smartphone and has four rear cameras. The phone has a water drop style notch and the rear panel of the phone is of plastic.

After using for some time, you are told a review of Redmi 9 Prime. There is enough demand for budget smartphones in the market, in this case you will be in a position to decide whether this smartphone will be right for you or not by reading this review.

Design and Build Quality:

The front has a traditional redmi style design, water drop style notch and self view display has been given bezels. The rear panel is of plastic and there is texture here which makes the grip good to hold.

The rear panel is a vertical camera module in the upper center with three cells and just below it is a fingerprint scanner. A fourth camera on the right and LED flash is given below it.

The bottom of the phone has a USB Type C connector, headphone jack and speaker grill. Volume rocker keys are provided with the home button on the right.

Display:

Redmi 9 Prime has a 6.53 inch Full HD display. Here is Gorilla Glass 3 for protection, which is old and was launched in 2013.

The display looks very large and is bright. If it is an LCD panel, then you should also expect it accordingly. Color and viewing angle are good. Even after full brightness in direct sunlight, you may have trouble seeing content.

The experience of watching videos and gaming has been fine. The picture quality looks sharp and the color reproduction is also good. However, the moments that occur in the LCD panel while watching video will also be in it.

Performance and Software Experience:

The Redmi 9 Prime has an octa-core processor, which is the MediaTek Helio G80 model. It has two storage options - 4GB + 64GB and 4GB + 128GB.

You get many bloatware in the phone i.e. it has pre-installed software. Some of these apps are from Xiaomi and while some third party apps have been given.

This phone has been given Android 10 based MIUI 11. Software If you have used other smartphones of Xiaomi then this is the case. In normal use, the phone does not feel lag.

Talking about gaming, you can play COD: Mobile or other games of the same level in it. During gaming, this phone heats up and the battery drains too quickly. During gaming, if you keep different apps open in the background, then this problem will also come.

This phone is good for multi tasking. Because its display is large. Switching from one app to another is easy.

You will be able to notice the loading time, as it does not have a high refresh rate. Although this phone does not hang in normal use, it is a good thing.

Overall the performance of this phone is better than the average. But the company should work on bloatware and focus on giving clean experience to the users.

Camera:

There are four rear cameras in Redmi 9 Prime. The primary camera is 13 megapixels, 8 megapixel wide angle lens, 5 megapixel macro lens and 2 megapixel depth sensor.

The camera app is standard and you get all the important features at home. There is no problem focusing and it is fast. Outdoor photography is good, but here you do not get much detailing.

Talking of a close up shot, it sometimes gets blurred. Although its macro lens is good. If you click it more closely, it gets a good result.

Wide angle lens is the average, but it can be used if needed. It could have been improved a little bit. The main camera is good and it can click good pictures in the right lighting condition.

The camera's night scene cannot be handled properly by this smartphone. Even if you try, you will not be able to do better photography at night and you will get grains in the results.

Talking about portrait mode, it is decent, but in case of illumination, the pictures clicked in portrait mode are not as sharp. Sometimes images clicked on this mode will appear merged with the background object.

Battery:

The Redmi 9 Prime has a 5,020mAh battery and supports 18W fast charge. In mixed use, you can remove backup for more than 1 day from this phone. Backup of day load is also available in heavy use.

Overall the battery of this smartphone is impressive and the backup is good. There was scope to improve it further in the photography department. It is good on the design and build quality front. It is compact, handy and the phone does not look overly large.
