China is one of the countries that has first adopted 5G network technology. The 5G service was launched in China last year after South Korea, USA. At present, China is the country with the highest 5G userbase in the world. According to a new report, the shipment of 5G capable handsets from China will reach 140 million i.e. 140 million by the end of this year.
According to some media reports and Counterpoint Research analysts, 14 million 5G enabled smartphones were shipped to China by July. Which is three times the devices shipped in January 2020. In China, 50 percent of smartphones are now 5G enabled. These days OEMs (equipment manufacturers) are launching more and more 5G handsets in the market. In particular, companies are launching their flagship models only with 5G network support.
Chinese smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi and Huawei have shipped the most 5G handsets. At the same time, Realme and OnePlus have also shipped many of their 5G devices in China. 79 percent of global 5G handsets shipments by these companies are in China. Which is more than 72 percent of the quarter ended in June. This is the reason that Apple is going to launch its 5G smartphones soon, which will be launched in the coming few weeks.
Not only this, the reason behind the increase in shipments of 5G smartphones is that now affordable 5G chips are being manufactured which are used in the entry and mid range devices. Due to this, 5G devices have also become quite affordable. Due to entry level 5G smartphones such as Realme V3, OnePlus Nord, 5G shipments have seen a significant increase. Not only this, 5G network coverage in China is also growing rapidly. At present, about 6 lakh 5G base stations have been built in China. Not only this, according to the Chinese government, there are around 100 million (100 million) 5G terminal connections in the country at this time.
